Not all people are equal.
Our birth environment undeniably shapes our experience and journey in life.
If we are lucky, we are born into privileged economic and social circumstances.
If we are blessed, we are surrounded by supportive family and friends.
Beyond the touch of life’s inequalities remains a person’s soul.
It is our essence…which is of equal worth.
We all have a dark, deep pool inside filled with longing, sadness, despair, and pain...
... it may be given to us or brought on ourselves , but anxiety and failure shape it.
But yet, we also hold within us an ability to hope…
…a light that we generally smother, but spend most of our lives trying to find.
Some lights are never found, some are never lost.
Sometimes we lose our way in the muck, mire and darkness of life.
Other times, the failure of fellow travelers hinders our journey.
Each journey in life takes a different path, with varying levels and heights.
But no matter the path, every individual’s struggle and experience is real, unique and important.
To survive, we may need a thread to guide us home – a lifeline that cuts through the dark.
Inequalities may affect the ease of finding such a thread…
Some may praise the heavens while others curse hell for birth privilege.
But, regardless of how hindered or burdened our journey may become… the choice remains ours.
For in the end, we all reach the same place – a final crossroad and decision of eternity.
Will we journey in the dark - embracing despair… or hope - longing for the light?
